Free coins on short drama apps: the routes that actually work
Short answer
There's no hack or generator for short drama coins. The free routes that work are the ones each app builds in. ReelShort's Italian App Store listing offers ads or daily bonuses instead of buying coins. NetShort's free tier runs with ads. CandyJar gives 1 free episode every 24 hours plus one-time bonus coins for tasks such as verifying your email. VibeShort's bonus coins expire. FreeReels is ad-supported. For DramaBox, only the free opening episodes are confirmed. Coin generator sites, mod APKs and paid-to-watch offers are scams.
Search "free coins" for any short drama app and you'll find generators, "unlimited coin" mods and apps that promise to pay you for watching. The free coins that actually exist come from the apps themselves, in small amounts with rules attached. Below is what each app's own listing, terms or help center says, with the date we read it.
The short answer: no hack, just the app's own offers
The free routes are built by the same companies that sell the coins, and they fall into four patterns: ads in exchange for episodes or coins, daily bonuses or daily free episodes, one-time tasks such as verifying an email, and free opening episodes before the first lock. A route that isn't one of these, and isn't inside the app, deserves suspicion. Our guide on how coins work explains what coins are worth once you do pay.

| DramaBox | Opening episodes of series are free; ad-free viewing is listed as a paid feature. No other free route confirmed | App Store (US) listing, Oct 2, 2026 |
| NetShort | Free viewing with ads (VIP lists "ad-free viewing where available"); on the website, episodes 1 to 9 of the series we opened were free | App Store (US) listing, Oct 2, 2026; NetShort website, Oct 6, 2026 |

| Pocket FM (audio app) | Free episodes, 1 free daily episode, timed unlocks, ads, coins for tasks and videos | Pocket FM Help Center, read Oct 6, 2026 |
How to get free coins on ReelShort
ReelShort's Italian App Store listing says you can keep watching without buying coins by viewing ads or collecting daily bonuses. It doesn't say how many ads an episode takes or how big the bonus is. Some reviews claim earned coins expire after a period without use; the official description doesn't say so and we couldn't confirm it, so spend them rather than saving them. More on prices and the weekly plan is in our ReelShort review.
DramaBox free coins: what's confirmed
Less than people hope. DramaBox's US listing confirms free opening episodes and presents ad-free viewing as a subscription feature, which suggests the free experience includes ads. We haven't verified any daily bonus, ad-for-coins option or task reward on DramaBox, so check the app's own screens. Our DramaBox review covers what the paid plans cost.
NetShort and FreeReels: ads instead of coins
NetShort's VIP benefits include "ad-free viewing where available", so the free tier runs with ads. FreeReels, an Android app, calls itself "always free to access" and carries Google Play's "Contains ads" label, alongside optional purchases.
CandyJar: a daily episode and one-time bonuses
CandyJar's help center spells out exact numbers. You get one free episode or short every 24 hours. In the Rewards tab, one-time bonus coins are paid for tasks: 50 for verifying your email, 50 for turning on notifications, 50 for each social account you follow, 50 for installing the Galatea reading app, and 250 for a feedback call. CandyJar is ad-free, so there's no watch-an-ad option.
Auto-Unlock is on by default and spends coins when an episode ends; turn it off per series in More > My Wallet > Series on Auto-Unlock. See our CandyJar review.
VibeShort: use bonus coins before they expire
VibeShort's terms split your balance into gold coins, which you buy, and bonus, which you earn. Gold coins are spent first, and bonus expires on a date shown in My Wallet. Our VibeShort review has the pass prices.
Pocket FM: the audio exception
Pocket FM is an audio app, not video, but its help center lists five free routes: free opening episodes, one free daily episode on your most recently followed series, timed unlocks (say, free in 48 hours or 8 coins now), ads (14 ad videos for 2 episodes, in its example) and coins earned through tasks and videos.
Free coin generators, mod APKs and "get paid to watch" offers
No official source we read describes a coin generator or offers to pay viewers.
- "Free coins generator" sites aren't run by the apps. If one asks for your login, card or an app install, close it: a login handed to a stranger can cost you the account and any coins in it. Pocket FM's security page, for one, says it never asks for card details or passwords by email or text, and never asks you to pay through third-party sites.
- Mod APKs and "premium unlocked" versions are copies outside the official stores. They infringe the rights of the people who made the shows and are a known route to malware and card theft.
- "Get paid to watch dramas" apps match what the US Federal Trade Commission calls task scams (consumer alert, November 2024): a growing tally of "earnings", sometimes a small first payout, then a request to deposit your own money, often in crypto, to unlock the rest. If anything asks you to pay to get paid, stop.
ReelShort's ads and bonuses unlock episodes, not cash. Our guide on whether short drama apps are safe has more checks.
Making free coins go further
- Use the free opening to choose between two or three series before spending anything.
- Turn off auto-unlock where the app allows it.
- Spend earned coins quickly. VibeShort's bonus expires by design, and ReelShort's might.
- Come back daily if you follow one series slowly; daily rewards favor patience, not binges.
- Lock purchases on shared phones, so a tap meant for a free coin doesn't buy a pack.
Our list of free short drama apps covers how far each app gets you without paying.
TotalShort: free episodes without the coin chase
TotalShort is our app, made by Agape Group GmbH, the company that runs this site. Its free allowance is fixed rather than earned: the first 8 episodes of every series are free, then 1 free episode a day per series. Coins never expire, and nothing unlocks without your confirmation.
The limits are real: six Italian series, all made with AI and labeled as such, with Italian audio and subtitles in 13 languages including English. It's on Android now; the iPhone version is coming soon. Get TotalShort on Google Play, read the TotalShort review, or see the full ranking.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get free coins on ReelShort?
ReelShort's Italian App Store listing (read September 30, 2026) says you can keep watching without buying coins by viewing ads or collecting daily bonuses. On the website, the series we opened on October 6, 2026 had episodes 1 to 13 free. Some reviews claim earned coins expire, which the official description doesn't confirm, so spend them on what you're watching now.
Can I get free coins on DramaBox?
DramaBox's US listing confirms free opening episodes and lists ad-free viewing as a subscription feature, which suggests ads in the free tier. We haven't verified any daily bonus, task reward or ad-for-coins option on DramaBox, so we won't promise one. Any outside site offering DramaBox coins or a modded version isn't run by the developer and is a scam risk.
Do free coin generators work?
No official source we read describes one. The apps we cover sell coins through Apple, Google or their own websites. If a generator asks for your login, card or an app download, close it: a login given to a stranger can cost you the account and its coins. Real free coins come from inside the app.
Is it safe to use a mod APK for unlimited coins?
No. Mod APKs and "premium unlocked" versions are unofficial copies distributed outside the App Store and Google Play. They infringe the rights of the people who made the series and are a common route to malware and stolen card details. For free viewing, stick to the free episodes, ads and daily bonuses inside the official apps.
Can you get paid to watch short dramas?
None of the official sources we read offers to pay viewers. ReelShort's ads and daily bonuses unlock episodes in the app; they aren't cash. Apps that promise money for watching follow the pattern the FTC describes in its November 2024 task scam alert: rising "earnings", maybe a small payout, then a request to deposit your own money to unlock the rest. Never pay to get paid.
Do earned bonus coins expire?
On some apps, yes. VibeShort's terms say bonus coins have an expiry date shown in My Wallet and are spent after purchased gold coins. On ReelShort, reviews claim earned coins expire, but the official description doesn't confirm it. CandyJar's bonuses are one-time task rewards. On TotalShort, coins never expire. Whatever the app, spend earned coins on the series you're watching now.
