NetShort is a real app from a named Singapore company, with a large and positive rating count. What sets it apart in our comparison is price: its weekly VIP starts higher than any other weekly plan we recorded. For many viewers, the free tier with ads, or a few coins, will cost less than VIP.
We compare NetShort with our app near the end and say where NetShort is ahead.
What is NetShort and who makes it
NetShort streams vertical short dramas built for phones. The description names romance, fantasy, revenge, mystery and suspense, with themes like billionaire romance, werewolves, rebirth and hidden identities. The listing mentions HD playback, offline downloads for supported content, watch history, favorites and personalized recommendations. If short dramas are new to you, read what a short drama is.
The App Store names NETSTORY PTE. LTD. as developer. NetShort's user agreement, last updated June 21, 2024, is a contract with that company, registered in Singapore with an office in Woodlands. Its membership agreement puts disputes under Singapore law.

How much NetShort costs
Prices on the US App Store listing
| Purchase | US price |
|---|---|
| Weekly VIP | $19.99, $24.99, $29.99 |
| One-time purchases | $6.99, $9.99, $14.99, $19.99 |
The listing doesn't say who sees which weekly price, or what each one-time purchase contains. Its release notes mention a "Gold Coin feature" for unlocking content, so coin packs are the likely candidates, but the payment sheet is where you confirm it. Among the apps in our dataset that list a weekly price, NetShort's $19.99 is the highest starting point; GoodShort starts at $5.99, DramaWave at $7.99 and ShortMax at $9.99.
The VIP description is worth reading closely. It promises ad-free viewing "where available", HD playback for supported episodes, offline downloads for supported content and "access to more episodes in selected series". Selected is the key word: VIP doesn't promise to open the whole catalog, and the listing says some content may still need in-app purchases.
Prices on netshort.com
On October 6, 2026, as a visitor without signing in, we saw these prices on the website (US dollars):
| On the website | Price |
|---|---|
| One locked episode | 50 coins |
| Coin packs | 1,000 for $9.99; 1,300 for $12.99; 5,000 for $49.99 |
| VIP | $24.99 a week; $149.99 a year, both renewing automatically |
| Payment | Apple Pay, Google Pay or card, on the site |
Example: finishing one series on the website
Our own arithmetic for the series we opened, The Day I Got Divorced, My Billionaire Mom Found Me (50 episodes):
- Free: episodes 1 to 9. Paid: episodes 10 to 50, which is 41 episodes.
- Coins needed: 41 × 50 = 2,050 coins.
- Cheapest combination of the packs shown: 1,000 + 1,300 coins = 2,300 coins for $9.99 + $12.99 = $22.98, leaving 250 coins.
- One week of website VIP instead: $24.99, plus whatever it renews at if you don't cancel.
Coins win here by $2.01, and they don't renew. Other series can have a different number of free episodes. Our guide to how coins work covers the general pattern.
What's free on NetShort
The download is free, and the free tier appears to be supported by ads, since the VIP perks include ad-free viewing. On the website, the series we checked had 9 free episodes. The App Store listing itself gives no count, and the number can differ by series, so check the locks in the episode list.
If you don't mind an ad before an episode, you may be able to watch a good deal without paying. For more legal routes, see our free short drama apps list. "Free VIP" links, modded APKs and re-uploads on unofficial channels infringe the creators' rights and are where scams and malware live.
Is NetShort legit and safe
Yes. NetShort has a named developer, about 214,000 US ratings at 4.7 stars, and payments through Apple, Google, or its own website checkout. The listing's subscription notice explains that Apple charges your account, that renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends, and that you cancel in Subscriptions.
Points from its agreements to know before paying:
- Age. The user agreement says the service is "not for use by users under 18", stricter than the 13+ App Store rating.
- Refunds. Subscription payments are described as final and non-refundable, except where the terms say otherwise. If you think you were charged by mistake, the user agreement gives you 30 days to contact NetShort.
- Where you pay. Real purchases happen in the app or on netshort.com. A site on any other domain claiming to sell NetShort VIP isn't NetShort.
On a shared phone, Apple's Screen Time purchase controls and Google Play's purchase verification add a gate before purchases. Our guide on whether short drama apps are safe has a fuller checklist.
How to cancel NetShort
A plan bought in the app sits in your Apple or Google account. Deleting NetShort doesn't stop it.
iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Pick the app, then Cancel Subscription.
Android
- Open Google Play and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Pick the app, then Cancel subscription.
Deleting the app does not cancel anything. If you paid on the app's website, cancel on that website.
Apple's steps are on its cancel a subscription page, and Google's on the Google Play subscriptions page. The listing asks you to cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, so don't leave it to the final evening.
If you subscribed on netshort.com, it won't appear in Apple's or Google's list. The membership agreement says you cancel from the Me page of your NetShort account at least 24 hours before the billing date; a request made on or after that date still pays for the new cycle. You keep the benefits until the paid period ends.
Refunds. For App Store purchases, ask Apple through its refund page; for Google Play, use Google's process. NetShort's membership agreement also describes its own review route from Me > Contact Us in the app, with a reply within 24 hours and approved refunds processed within 72 hours. Our cancellation guide covers other apps too.
Who NetShort suits
- Viewers who tolerate ads. The listing frames ad-free viewing as a VIP perk, not a requirement.
- Laptop watchers. netshort.com plays episodes in a browser, and we could start one without an account.
- People finishing one series. On the website, coins covered the series we checked for less than a week of VIP.
It suits less well anyone under 18, given the agreement, and anyone who wants VIP on a budget: four weeks at the lowest listed weekly price is 4 × $19.99 = $79.96.
NetShort vs TotalShort
TotalShort is our app, so weigh this accordingly. NetShort is the more established service.
| NetShort | TotalShort (our app) | |
|---|---|---|
| Catalog | Size not stated; genres from romance to suspense | 6 series |
| Made with AI | Not stated on the listing | Yes, every series labeled "AI series" (no real actors) |
| Free episodes | Varies (9 in the series we checked on the web) | First 8 of every series, plus 1 free a day per series |
| Platforms | iPhone, Android, browser | Android (Google Play) only; iPhone version coming soon; no web player |
| Ratings | 4.7 from about 214,000 (US App Store) | Brand new, no public rating yet |
| Pricing | US dollars: weekly VIP from $19.99; 50 coins an episode on the web | Euro: VIP €5.99 a week or €59.99 a year; 30 coins (€0.30) an episode |
NetShort wins on genre range, a browser player, an iPhone app today and a large rating base. TotalShort offers a stated free allowance on every series, coins that never expire, a confirmation before each unlock and no sign-up to start. Its stories are set in Italy, with Italian audio and subtitles in 13 languages including English; some series also have English audio. After the 8 free episodes, a 12-episode series costs 4 × 30 = 120 coins, or €1.20.
Get TotalShort on Google Play; the iPhone version is coming soon. Every app is compared in our ranking and on the comparison page.
Frequently asked questions
Is NetShort a legit app?
Yes. NetShort is published by NETSTORY PTE. LTD., a Singapore-registered company named in both the App Store listing and its user agreement. It holds 4.7 stars from about 214,000 US ratings and 4.7 from about 15,700 in Italy. Payments go through Apple, Google or NetShort's own website. The risks are expensive weekly renewals and paying for VIP and coins to unlock the same content, not a fake company.
How much does NetShort cost per week?
On the US App Store, read October 2, 2026, weekly VIP is listed at $19.99, $24.99 and $29.99, with one-time purchases at $6.99, $9.99, $14.99 and $19.99. On netshort.com, on October 6, 2026, weekly VIP was $24.99 and yearly VIP $149.99. Four weeks at the lowest app price is $79.96. Prices vary by country and change over time, so check the payment sheet.
How many free episodes does NetShort have?
On netshort.com, the series we opened had episodes 1 to 9 free, and from episode 10 each cost 50 coins, about $0.50 with the packs on sale. The App Store listing doesn't give a number, and other series can differ. The free tier appears to include ads, since VIP lists ad-free viewing as a perk. Look at the locks in the episode list before you buy anything.
Is NetShort VIP worth it?
It depends on ads and volume. VIP promises ad-free viewing where available, HD, downloads for supported content and more episodes in "selected series", so it doesn't guarantee everything is unlocked. For the series we checked on the website, coins covered every paid episode for $22.98, against $24.99 for a week of website VIP. If ads don't bother you, the free tier plus occasional coins may be enough.
Can I watch NetShort on a computer?
Yes. netshort.com plays series in the browser, and on October 6, 2026 we started episode 1 as a visitor without signing in. The site sells coins and VIP directly, paid by Apple Pay, Google Pay or card. A plan bought there is managed from your NetShort account, not from Apple's or Google's subscription list, so remember where you paid if you later want to cancel.
How do I cancel NetShort?
For an in-app plan: on iPhone, Settings, your name, Subscriptions, NetShort, Cancel Subscription; on Android, Google Play, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, NetShort, Cancel subscription. Do it at least 24 hours before renewal. Deleting the app does nothing. For a plan bought on netshort.com, cancel from the Me page of your account, at least 24 hours before the billing date, per NetShort's membership agreement.
Is NetShort OK for teenagers?
The App Store rates it 13+ in the US and 12+ in Italy, but NetShort's user agreement says the service is "not for use by users under 18". The company's own document is the stricter guide. Weekly VIP plans are also among the most expensive we recorded, so if a teenager uses the phone, switch on purchase controls before anything else.
