Nine short drama apps are available for Android on Google Play: TotalShort, FreeReels, PineDrama, DramaBox, GoodShort, ReelShort, NetShort, DramaWave and FlickReels. TotalShort, listed first, is Android-only for now, so here it's an option every reader can install today. After it come the two apps whose Google Play listings we read in full, ordered by Play review count, then the rest by US App Store rating count, since that's the figure we verified for them.
The Android short drama apps
1. TotalShort (our app)
TotalShort is on Google Play now as "TotalShort: Short Drama Series", published by Agape Group GmbH (listing read October 15, 2026; updated October 14). It's rated Teen, labeled AI and "In-app purchases", and too new to have a public rating. You start as a guest: the first 8 episodes of every series are free, then 1 free episode a day per series. Six Italian series, made with AI and labeled, with Italian audio and subtitles in 13 languages. Paid episodes are 30 coins (€0.30) and coins never expire. VIP is €5.99 a week or €59.99 a year, billed by Google Play.
Limits: a small catalog, no real actors, and an Italian setting.
Best for: Android users who want a fixed free allowance and confirm-before-unlock pricing. TotalShort review · Get TotalShort on Google Play
2. FreeReels
FreeReels is an Android-only app from SKYWORK AI PTE. LTD., the company behind DramaWave. Its Google Play listing (read October 6, 2026) shows 4.7 from 1.96 million reviews and more than 100 million downloads, and Google Play ranked it number 4 among top free entertainment apps that day. The description promises "Always free to access — no subscriptions, no limits"; the listing is labeled "Contains ads" and still shows in-app purchases from $0.99 to $119.99 per item. It needs Android 8.0 or later.
Best for: watching with ads instead of a subscription. FreeReels review
3. PineDrama
PineDrama is TikTok's official short drama app, listed on Google Play by TikTok Pte. Ltd. On October 6, 2026 its Play listing showed 4.5 from 388K reviews, more than 50 million downloads, a Teen rating, and number 2 among top free entertainment apps. Unlike its App Store listing, which shows no purchases, the Play listing carries "In-app purchases" from $2.99 to $199.99 per item. Episodes run 1 to 3 minutes, with subtitles and dubbing.
Best for: TikTok users who want the same kind of feed for dramas. PineDrama review
4. DramaBox
On Android, DramaBox is billed and cancelled through Google Play. The rating we verified is on the US App Store: 4.8 from 867K, the most of any app we track there (October 2, 2026). It's rated 18+ on that store. The App Store listing shows Membership at $5.99, $17.99 and $19.99 without the period, and prices on Google Play can differ, so read the Play payment sheet before you confirm. Its website is a catalog, not a player.
Best for: the biggest-rated catalog, for adults. DramaBox review
5. GoodShort
GoodShort, from SINGAPORE NEW READING TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD., installs from Google Play and holds 4.9 from 527K US App Store ratings (October 2, 2026). The App Store listing shows weekly VIP from $5.99 and coin packs from 500 coins for $4.99. Its website also sells coins and has its own Manage Subscription page; a plan bought there won't show up in Google Play subscriptions. On goodshort.com, 9 episodes of the series we opened were free.
Best for: a low listed weekly price. GoodShort review
6. ReelShort
ReelShort holds 4.7 from 504K US App Store ratings (October 2, 2026). On Android, you cancel it in Google Play under Subscriptions. Its US listing shows one subscription at $19.99, billed weekly, and the Italian listing describes an ad and daily-bonus route for viewers who don't buy coins. Its terms (updated October 20, 2025) say the service is not for users under 18. The website plays episodes too: 13 were free on the series we opened.
Best for: an ad route on a large catalog. ReelShort review
7. NetShort
NetShort, with 4.7 from 214K US App Store ratings (October 2, 2026), takes payments through Google Play on Android. Its free tier is ad-supported. FreeReels is built around ads; DramaWave's listing is built around paid plans, with weekly VIP from $7.99 and a monthly VIP at $36.99 (US App Store prices). Its interface comes in 25 languages, and it also plays in a browser.
Best for: Android users who want a monthly plan instead of weekly renewals. DramaWave review

It mixes regular dramas with AI-powered content and an AI Co-Creation feature. US prices: Weekly Membership $12.99 or $19.99, Monthly $39.99. Its website played the first 10 episodes of the series we checked.
Best for: AI story features alongside a regular catalog. FlickReels review
ShortMax, Shortical, CandyJar, StoryReel and VibeShort also bill and cancel through Google Play on Android; they're covered on the compare page.
How we picked
An app is here only if it can be installed and billed through Google Play: either we read its Play listing (TotalShort on October 15, FreeReels and PineDrama on October 6, 2026), or its verified guide documents Google Play billing and cancellation. TotalShort is first because it's ours. FreeReels and PineDrama follow by Google Play review count; the rest are ordered by US App Store rating count, because we didn't read their Play pages and won't quote numbers we haven't seen. More on how we rate, and the overall ranking is on the home page.
Frequently asked questions
Is TotalShort on Android?
Yes. TotalShort is on Google Play now (app id com.totalshort.app). The iPhone version is coming soon to the App Store and isn't available yet, and the app doesn't play in a web browser. On Android, the first 8 episodes of every series are free, then 1 a day per series, with no sign-up needed to start.
What is the most downloaded short drama app on Android?
Among the Play listings we read, FreeReels, with more than 100 million downloads and 1.96 million reviews (October 6, 2026), ahead of PineDrama's 50 million-plus. We haven't read Google Play download counts for DramaBox, ReelShort or the others, so we can't rank them on that. Download counts also say nothing about price or about which series you'll like.
Is there a free short drama app for Android?
FreeReels describes itself as always free with no subscriptions and runs on ads, though it lists purchases up to $119.99. TotalShort gives 8 free episodes per series and then 1 a day. NetShort and ReelShort describe ad routes. See the free short drama apps list for what each gives away, with dates.
Should I install a short drama APK from a website?
No. APK sites can serve modified builds that skip Google's checks, and "mod" or "unlocked" versions are a common route to malware and stolen payment details. Install from Google Play only. If an app isn't offered in your country's Play Store, an APK isn't a safe workaround. Searches for FreeReels, for example, turn up APK download sites; Google Play is the only place we'd install it from.
How do I cancel a short drama subscription on Android?
Open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions; pick the app and tap Cancel subscription. Uninstalling doesn't cancel it. Google's steps are on its cancel page. Plans bought on an app's website, like GoodShort's or Shortical's, are cancelled on that website instead. You keep access until the paid period ends.
How do I stop a child buying coins on Android?
In Google Play, go to Payments & subscriptions and turn on purchase verification, so every purchase asks for authentication before it goes through. For a child's account, Google Play's parental controls and Family Link can require approval for purchases; Google explains them on its parental controls page. Our safety guide covers the rest.
