How to cancel a short drama subscription, wherever you paid
Short answer
Cancel a short drama subscription where you paid for it. Bought in the app on iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, pick the app, Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, pick the app, Cancel subscription. Bought on the app's website (ReelShort, Shortical, CandyJar, NetShort, DramaWave and GoodShort all sell there), cancel in your account on that site, because the plan won't show in Apple or Google. Deleting the app never cancels. You keep access until the paid period ends, and store refunds are requested from Apple or Google, not from the app.
Most people who search for this have already deleted the app and then seen another charge. That's the first thing to know: an app on your phone and a subscription on your account are separate. This guide shows how to find where a plan lives, cancel it there, and ask for money back if a charge went through anyway.
The steps below work for our app and every other one we cover.
Step one: find out who is charging you
There are three places a short drama subscription can live, and the cancel button is only in one of them.
- Apple, if you subscribed inside the app on an iPhone or iPad.
- Google Play, if you subscribed inside the app on an Android phone.
- The app company itself, if you paid on its website with a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Stripe or Paddle.
The fastest way to tell is your email. Search for a receipt from Apple or Google Play first. If there isn't one, look at your card statement: the merchant name tells you who billed you. CandyJar adds a fourth place, Roku, for subscriptions bought on a Roku device.
Cancel a plan bought in the app
iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Pick the app, then Cancel Subscription.
Android
- Open Google Play and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Pick the app, then Cancel subscription.
Deleting the app does not cancel anything. If you paid on the app's website, cancel on that website.
On iPhone or iPad
Apple's steps:
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Choose the short drama app.
- Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm. You may need to scroll down.
If you see no cancel button, or an expiry date in red, the plan is already cancelled. If the app isn't listed at all, you're probably signed in to a different Apple Account from the one that paid; the email receipt names it. Apple's full instructions are on its cancel a subscription page.
On Android
Google's steps:
- Make sure you're signed in to the Google Account you subscribed with.
- Open Google Play, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Choose the app.
- Tap Cancel subscription and follow the prompts.
Google says plainly that uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription. Its full guide is on the Google Play help page.
Cancel a plan bought on the app's website
Several short drama apps sell coins and VIP directly on their own sites, often at a different price from the app. Those plans never show up in your phone's subscription list, which is why people think they have nothing to cancel. Here is what each app's own documents say, read on October 6, 2026.
ReelShort
Plans bought on ReelShort's website are billed by Crazy Maple Studio, Inc. to your card. Its terms say it sends a renewal reminder email every six months. Cancel from your ReelShort account on the website, or write to reelshort.support@crazymaplestudio.com from the email you signed up with. The terms describe subscription payments as final and non-refundable, apart from stated exceptions.
Shortical
Shortical's Subscription Policy gives the path: sign in on shortical.com, open Profile, choose Unsubscribe. Web payments run through Stripe or Paddle. The policy says fees are non-refundable to the extent the law allows. For help, the address is support@shortical.com.
CandyJar
CandyJar's help center says to log in at candyjar.com and cancel in your subscription settings. Roku subscriptions are managed at my.roku.com/subscriptions. CandyJar is unusual in offering subscription refunds within 7 days of the charge; for website purchases you ask its support.
NetShort
NetShort's membership agreement says web plans are cancelled from the Me page of your account, at least 24 hours before the billing date. A request on or after that date still pays for the new cycle.
DramaWave
DramaWave's terms say a subscription bought on its website can be cancelled any time before the next billing cycle, with access until the current period ends and no refund for the unused part. Questions go to dramawavesupport@mydramawave.com.
GoodShort
GoodShort's website has a Manage Subscription page for plans bought there. A plan bought on the site is cancelled there.
Not every app with a web player sells on the web. StoryReel's and VibeShort's websites, when we checked, played the first episodes and then sent visitors to the app, with no plans for sale.

"Not checked" means we didn't verify it, not that the feature is missing.
Getting money back
A refund is a request, not a right, and the company that took the payment decides.
Apple. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose "I'd like to", then "Request a refund", and pick the reason and the purchase. Apple says to expect an update within 24 to 48 hours, and eligibility varies by country. Details are on Apple's refund page.
Google Play. Google may refund some purchases depending on what, when and where you bought. For apps from other developers, Google notes that contacting the developer is often quickest. Charges you don't recognize should be reported within 120 days. See Google's refund policies.
The app itself. Only for web purchases, or where its documents offer a route, such as CandyJar's 7-day window or NetShort's in-app review. Pocket FM's terms say coin purchases are final and non-refundable.
Whichever route you take, cancel first, or the plan renews while you wait.
What happens after you cancel
You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for. On a weekly plan that's a few days at most. Coins are a separate matter: cancelling a plan doesn't refund or delete coins you bought, and what happens to them depends on each app's terms. Shortical's and FlareFlow's terms, for example, say virtual currency is lost if the account is closed, so spend it before you delete an account.
Check your subscription list again a few days later, and your next statement. If a charge still appears, the usual causes are a second subscription on another account, or a website plan you forgot.
Stop it happening again
Set a calendar reminder the day before any renewal, the day you subscribe. On Android, Google Play's subscription center also lets you set a monthly budget. If a child uses the phone, purchase approvals are the stronger fix; our guide to short drama app safety has the exact paths.
TotalShort, our app, keeps cancelling simple: VIP is billed only by Google Play, weekly or yearly, and you cancel in Google Play > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions. There are no free trials that turn into charges, coins never expire and nothing unlocks without your confirmation. The catalog is small (six Italian series made with AI, no live actors) and it's Android only for now: get TotalShort on Google Play; the iPhone version is coming soon. Frequently asked questions
Does deleting a short drama app cancel the subscription?
No. The subscription belongs to your Apple, Google or website account, not to the app on your phone. Google says it outright: uninstalling does not cancel. Cancel first in Settings (iPhone), Google Play (Android) or your account on the app's website, check that an end date now shows, and only then delete the app if you want to. Otherwise the plan keeps renewing in the background.
Why can't I find the app in my subscriptions?
Three common reasons. You may be signed in to a different Apple or Google account from the one that paid, and the email receipt tells you which. You may have paid on the app's website, as ReelShort, Shortical, CandyJar, NetShort, DramaWave and GoodShort allow, so the plan lives in your account there. Or a family member's account paid, and Apple doesn't let you cancel someone else's subscription.
How do I cancel ReelShort?
If you subscribed in the app: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, ReelShort, Cancel Subscription on iPhone; Google Play, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, ReelShort, Cancel subscription on Android. If you paid on ReelShort's website, the plan is billed by Crazy Maple Studio and you cancel from your ReelShort account, or by emailing reelshort.support@crazymaplestudio.com. More in our ReelShort review.
How do I cancel DramaBox?
DramaBox plans bought in the app are billed by Apple or Google. On iPhone: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, DramaBox, Cancel Subscription. On Android: Google Play, Payments & subscriptions, Subscriptions, DramaBox, Cancel subscription. Its listing says to switch off renewal at least 24 hours before the period ends. We didn't find a web store on DramaBox's website. More in our DramaBox review.
Can I get a refund on a short drama subscription?
You can ask. For App Store purchases, use reportaproblem.apple.com; Apple says to expect an update within 24 to 48 hours. For Google Play purchases, use Google's refund process, and report unknown charges within 120 days. Web purchases go to the app's own support. CandyJar offers subscription refunds within 7 days of the charge, while ReelShort and Shortical describe their payments as non-refundable. Cancel first so you aren't charged again.
I cancelled. Why does the app still work?
That's normal. Cancelling stops the next renewal, not the time you already paid for. On iPhone you'll see an expiry date instead of a renewal date. On a weekly plan, access ends within a few days. If you're charged again after that date, check for a second subscription on another account or a website plan, then contact whoever billed you.
Do I lose my coins when I cancel?
Cancelling a subscription doesn't touch coins in most apps, but rules on leftover coins vary. Shortical's and FlareFlow's terms say virtual currency is lost when an account is closed, and VibeShort's bonus coins expire on their own. Spend what you have before closing an account. On TotalShort, coins never expire.
