PineDrama verdict in brief
PineDrama is TikTok's own entry into short drama, and it grew fast: tens of millions of Android downloads within months of a December 2025 launch. It's not a scam app; the publisher is TikTok's company, and installs go through the official stores.
The two things to understand are money and data. The App Store lists no purchases at all, while Google Play lists items up to $199.99, so the answer to "is it free?" depends on your phone. And the privacy labels go further than most video apps, covering contact details, photos or videos and browsing history. Neither is a reason to avoid it. Both are reasons to set it up carefully.
Who makes PineDrama, and what the listings show
The listing calls it "TikTok's Official Short Drama App": vertical mini-series in high definition, a feed that learns what you like, and auto-play for binge watching [1]. Genres highlighted include modern romance, "empowering drama" with strong female leads, family stories and underdog journeys.

Google Play ranked it number 2 among top free entertainment apps when we read it [2]. It's on iPhone and Android, but not everywhere: Apple's search returned no PineDrama on the Italian App Store on October 6, 2026 [3].
Format and social features
The developer's own FAQ says each episode is "about 1 to 3 minutes long", that it offers "high-quality subtitles and professional dubbing (including English, Spanish, and more)", and that new episodes come out regularly [1]. You can like episodes, comment, keep a watchlist and follow creators; the Google Play text adds real-time reactions while you watch [2]. That's closer to TikTok than to a typical drama app.
How much PineDrama costs
What each US listing shows, read October 6, 2026 [1][2]. Prices change by country and over time; the store's payment sheet is the final word.
| Store | Download | In-app purchases | What they unlock |
|---|---|---|---|
| App Store (US) | Free | None listed | n/a |
| Google Play (US) | Free | $2.99 to $199.99 per item | Not stated |
Neither description mentions coins, subscriptions or prices. Google Play's text does say "Unlock a world of short dramas" [2]. If purchases appear in the app, our coins explainer covers how to read an unlock screen.
Example calculation (hypothetical purchases on Google Play)
The listing gives only a range, so this example shows its size, not a real bill:
- Buying the cheapest $2.99 item once a week for a year: 52 × $2.99 = $155.48
- Buying the most expensive item once: $199.99
One tap on the top item would cost more than a year of weekly small purchases. On Android, turn on purchase verification before your first episode.
What's free on PineDrama
Downloading is free on both stores, and by most accounts so is starting to watch. On iPhone the US listing shows no purchases at all, as of October 6, 2026 [1]. Listings change, so blocking in-app purchases in Screen Time is a free safeguard.
Reviewers on the App Store praise the variety and complain most about frequent ads, which some put at every two or three episodes, and about stories that stop without an ending [1]. Google Play reviewers add playback freezes and lost watch history [2]. Google Play doesn't show a "Contains ads" label for PineDrama, so treat the ad reports as users' accounts. For other apps that lean on free viewing, see our list of free short drama apps and our FreeReels review.
Is PineDrama legit and safe?
It's legit: the publisher is TikTok's own company, and it has tens of millions of downloads from the official stores [2]. The safety question is data, not fraud.
On the App Store, data that may be used to track you includes contact info and identifiers. Data linked to you includes contact info (name, email, phone number, physical address), user content (photos or videos, customer support messages), browsing history, identifiers, usage data and diagnostics [1]. On Google Play, the developer declares that the app may share photos and videos with third parties, may collect location, personal info and six other data types, encrypts data in transit and accepts deletion requests [2].
If that list feels like a lot, decline tracking when iOS asks and think before linking anything personal. If PineDrama isn't in your country's store, don't sideload an APK; it skips the store's checks. Our safety guide covers the general risks.
How to cancel PineDrama
iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions.
- Pick the app, then Cancel Subscription.
Android
- Open Google Play and tap your profile icon.
- Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
- Pick the app, then Cancel subscription.
Deleting the app does not cancel anything. If you paid on the app's website, cancel on that website.
Notes specific to PineDrama:
- On iPhone there may be nothing to cancel. The US App Store listing showed no purchases when we read it. Check Settings, your name, Subscriptions anyway if you were charged.
- On Android, check both lists. One-off items don't renew, but anything recurring will appear under Payments & subscriptions in Google Play.
- Refunds go to the store. Apple handles refunds through its refund page; Google Play handles Android purchases.
Our cancellation guide walks through every case.
Who PineDrama suits
- TikTok regulars. The feed, comments and creator follows will feel familiar.
- Viewers who prefer dubbing. The description promises professional dubbing in English, Spanish and more; check the player options per series.
- iPhone users in the US. No purchases listed on the App Store as of our read date.
- Privacy-minded viewers should read first. The labels are broader than many expect from a video app.
PineDrama vs TotalShort
TotalShort is our app, so weigh this section accordingly. The two take very different approaches.
| PineDrama | TotalShort | |
|---|---|---|
| Publisher | TikTok Pte. Ltd. | Agape Group GmbH |
| Catalog | Mini-series, new episodes released regularly | 6 Italian-set series |
| How it's made | Not stated on the listing | AI-made, labeled "AI series" |
| Free model | Free to download; App Store lists no purchases | First 8 episodes of every series, plus 1 a day per series |
| Account | Not stated on the listing | No sign-up; you start as a guest |
| Platforms | iPhone and Android (not in every country) | Android only; iPhone version coming soon |
| Ratings | 4.85 App Store / 4.5 Google Play | Too new for a public rating |
TotalShort's prices are in euros. After the free episodes, an episode costs 30 coins (€0.30), so finishing a 12-episode series costs 120 coins (€1.20). VIP is €5.99 a week or €59.99 a year, billed by Google Play, coins never expire, and nothing unlocks without your confirmation.
Where TotalShort falls short: six series against TikTok's growing library, AI characters rather than actors, Italian audio with subtitles in 13 languages, Android only, and no ratings yet. If you want a social, TikTok-style feed with dubbing, PineDrama fits. If you'd rather watch Italian stories as a guest with a fixed price per episode, get TotalShort on Google Play. Frequently asked questions
Is PineDrama free?
It's free to download on both stores. The US App Store listing showed no in-app purchases on October 6, 2026. Google Play lists items from $2.99 to $199.99 without saying what they unlock. Neither description mentions coins or subscriptions. Reviewers report frequent ads, though Google Play shows no "Contains ads" label. In short: free to start, with paid items possible on Android.
Is PineDrama owned by TikTok?
Yes. The App Store seller is TIKTOK PTE. LTD., the Google Play developer is TikTok Pte. Ltd., and the description calls it "TikTok's Official Short Drama App." It launched in December 2025 and passed 50 million Google Play downloads. Features like comments, likes and following creators reflect where it comes from.
Is PineDrama safe?
It's a real app from TikTok's company, installed from official stores, so it isn't a scam. The question is data. The App Store label lists contact info and identifiers among data that may be used to track you, and contact info, photos or videos and browsing history among data linked to you. Google Play says photos and videos may be shared with third parties. Read the labels and decline tracking if you prefer.
How long are PineDrama episodes?
About 1 to 3 minutes each, according to the developer's FAQ on the listing. That's a little longer than apps built around one-minute episodes. Auto-play rolls straight into the next one, which is how a few minutes becomes an evening, so decide on a stopping point before you start a series.
Does PineDrama have English dubbing?
The description promises "high-quality subtitles and professional dubbing (including English, Spanish, and more)." That's a promise for the app overall, and availability can vary by series. Open the series you want and check the audio and subtitle options in the player before you get invested. If a title only has subtitles, another series in the same genre may have the dub.
Why can't I find PineDrama in my app store?
It isn't offered everywhere. It's live on the US App Store and Google Play, but Apple's search found no PineDrama on the Italian App Store on October 6, 2026. If it doesn't appear in your store, it probably isn't available in your country yet. Don't install it from an APK download site; those skip the store's checks.
Why do some PineDrama stories end abruptly?
Some reviewers say stories stop before the end. The listing doesn't explain why, but it does say new episodes and mini-series are released regularly, so a series may simply still be in progress. Check how many episodes are out and whether the series is marked complete before you commit, and come back later if it's unfinished.
