GoodShort review: prices, free episodes and whether it's legit

Short answer

GoodShort is a legitimate short drama app from SINGAPORE NEW READING TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD., rated 4.9 from 527K ratings on the US App Store (13+). It's free to download. Coins cost about one cent each ($4.99 for 500 up to $24.99 for 2,500), and a weekly VIP is listed at $5.99, $9.99 and $19.99, the lowest weekly VIP line among the seven apps in our October 2 dataset. In one series we opened on its website, episodes 1 to 9 were free and later ones cost 46 to 56 coins. The main risk is a weekly plan that keeps renewing.

Everything below about GoodShort comes from its official US App Store listing, its user agreement and its website, each with the date we read it.

GoodShort verdict in brief

GoodShort is a real, mainstream app with a named Singapore publisher and one of the biggest rating counts in the category. Its listed prices start low: the cheapest weekly VIP line, $5.99, is the lowest weekly VIP price in our seven-app October 2 dataset, and coins work out at about a cent each no matter which pack you buy.

The catch is the same one every app in this category shares. The listing shows three weekly VIP prices without explaining the difference, and it doesn't say how many coins an episode costs. Read the purchase sheet, start with the free episodes, and set a calendar reminder the moment you subscribe to anything weekly.

Who makes GoodShort, and what the listing shows

GoodShort describes itself as an app of original dramas and movies told in vertical episodes of about a minute, many adapted from novels. The genres it names run from modern romance to billionaires and "gods of war", and you can follow a title to hear when new episodes land [1].

How much GoodShort costs

These are the purchases on the US App Store listing, read October 2, 2026 [1]. Prices differ by country and change over time; the amount on Apple's or Google's payment sheet is the one that counts.

Purchase US listing price
Weekly VIP $5.99, $9.99, $19.99
Weekly subscription $19.99
500 coins $4.99
1,000 coins $9.99
1,500 coins $14.99
2,000 coins $19.99
2,500 coins $24.99

Every coin pack lands at roughly one cent per coin, so the bigger packs barely save anything. The $5.99 weekly VIP is the lowest weekly VIP line in our seven-app dataset, ahead of DramaWave at $7.99 and ShortMax at $9.99. What the listing doesn't say is what each VIP tier unlocks, so don't assume the cheapest one covers your series. Our guide to how coins work explains the general mechanics.

Example calculation (our assumption, not GoodShort's price)

On October 6, 2026 we opened a 51-episode series, Don's Back: No One Touches His Daughter, on GoodShort's website. Episodes 1 to 9 showed 0 coins, episode 10 showed 56 and episode 11 showed 46 [3]. Suppose the remaining locked episodes averaged 50 coins.

  • Locked episodes: 51 − 9 = 42
  • Coins needed: 42 × 50 = 2,100
  • With the listed packs: 2,000 + 500 coins for $19.99 + $4.99 = $24.98, or the single 2,500-coin pack at $24.99

That's arithmetic on an assumed average, so treat it as a ballpark. If a $5.99 week of VIP actually covered that series, it would be far cheaper, but the listing doesn't promise that.

What's free on GoodShort

Downloading and browsing are free [1]. The App Store listing doesn't state how many episodes are free per series, which is why the website check above matters: in the one series we opened, the first nine episodes cost nothing. Other series may differ, so look at the lock icons before you get attached.

You may see claims elsewhere about daily check-in coins. The App Store listing doesn't mention them, so we don't count them. For apps that give the most away legally, see our list of free short drama apps.

Is GoodShort legit and safe?

Yes in the practical sense. The publisher is named, the rating count runs into the hundreds of thousands, and in-app payments go through Apple or Google. The listing spells out the renewal rule: renewal is charged within 24 hours before the period ends, and you need to cancel at least 24 hours before it ends to avoid the next charge [1].

GoodShort's user agreement names the operator as Singapore New Reading Technology PTE. LTD. at Suntec Tower Three in Singapore. It sets a minimum age of 12, says payments aren't refundable except where its terms say so, offers no partial refunds, and applies Singapore law with arbitration in Singapore [2]. The support address on the listing is contact@goodshort.com.

On privacy, the App Store label says identifiers may be used to track you across other companies' apps and websites, a device ID may be linked to you, and crash and performance data are collected without being linked to you [1]. Decline tracking when iOS asks if that bothers you. Our safety guide covers the general risks, from lookalike apps to "free coins" sites. Modded APKs and coin generators are not a workaround; skip them.

How to cancel GoodShort

iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings and tap your name.
  2. Tap Subscriptions.
  3. Pick the app, then Cancel Subscription.

Apple: Cancel a subscription from Apple

Android

  1. Open Google Play and tap your profile icon.
  2. Tap Payments & subscriptions, then Subscriptions.
  3. Pick the app, then Cancel subscription.

Google: Cancel a subscription on Google Play

Deleting the app does not cancel anything. If you paid on the app's website, cancel on that website.

A few points specific to GoodShort:

  • Where you paid decides where you cancel. GoodShort's website has its own Manage Subscription page for plans bought there [3]. A web plan won't appear in your Apple or Google subscription list.
  • Cancel a day early. Both the listing and the user agreement ask for at least 24 hours before the period ends [1][2].
  • No partial refunds. You keep access until the end of the cycle you paid for [2]. Refund requests for store purchases go to Apple or Google, not GoodShort. Apple's process is on its refund page.

Our full cancellation guide walks through every case.

Who GoodShort suits

  • Price-sensitive bingers. If the VIP covers your series, a single $5.99 week can beat buying coins. Cancel the same day so it doesn't roll over.
  • Occasional viewers. A small coin pack with no renewal is the most predictable spend.
  • Multilingual households. Fourteen interface languages is broad. Italian isn't among them.
  • Teens. The 13+ store rating and the age-12 minimum in the terms line up, but set Ask to Buy or purchase verification before handing over the phone.

GoodShort vs TotalShort

TotalShort is our app, so read this with that in mind. The two are built very differently.

GoodShort TotalShort
Catalog Original dramas and movies, many adapted from novels 6 Italian-set series
How it's made Not stated on the listing AI-made, every series labeled "AI series"
Platforms iPhone, Android, web Android only; iPhone version coming soon
Free episodes Varies by series First 8 of every series, plus 1 a day per series
Ratings 4.9 from 527K (US App Store) Too new for a public rating

TotalShort prices are in euros on its own listing. An episode costs 30 coins (€0.30), and finishing a 12-episode series after the 8 free ones takes 4 × 30 = 120 coins (€1.20). VIP is €5.99 a week or €59.99 a year, billed by Google Play, with no free trial that turns into a charge. Coins never expire and nothing unlocks without your confirmation.

The honest limits: six series is tiny next to GoodShort, there are no real actors, the audio is Italian with subtitles in 13 languages, and there is no iPhone or browser version yet. If you want volume and familiar English-language tropes, GoodShort fits better. If you're curious about Italian romance and revenge stories and want to know exactly what an episode costs, get TotalShort on Google Play. Our full ranking explains how we order the apps.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoodShort a legit app?

Yes. It comes from a named company, SINGAPORE NEW READING TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD., carries 4.9 stars from 527K ratings on the US App Store, and bills through Apple or Google. Its user agreement names the Singapore operator and sets out refund and renewal rules. Legit doesn't mean every purchase is good value. The thing to watch is a weekly VIP that renews automatically, so note the date the moment you subscribe and stick to the official stores.

Is GoodShort free to watch?

Partly. The download is free and some episodes of each series are free. In the series we opened on the website on October 6, 2026, the first nine episodes cost nothing and the next ones cost 46 to 56 coins each. The App Store listing doesn't give a per-series number, so check the episode list before you start. Finishing a long series usually takes coins or VIP.

How much do GoodShort coins cost?

On the US listing read October 2, 2026: 500 coins for $4.99, 1,000 for $9.99, 1,500 for $14.99, 2,000 for $19.99 and 2,500 for $24.99. That's about one cent per coin in every pack, so buying big saves almost nothing. The coin price of an episode is shown on the unlock screen and can vary between episodes. Prices also vary by country, so trust your own payment sheet.

What does GoodShort VIP cost?

The US listing shows Weekly VIP at $5.99, $9.99 and $19.99, plus a separate weekly subscription at $19.99. It doesn't explain what separates the tiers or exactly what VIP unlocks. All are weekly and renew automatically until you cancel, so four forgotten weeks at $5.99 come to $23.96. Read the description on the purchase sheet before confirming, and cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends.

Who owns GoodShort?

The App Store lists SINGAPORE NEW READING TECHNOLOGY PTE. LTD. as the developer, and the user agreement says the platform is operated by that company from Suntec Tower Three in Singapore. Disputes go to arbitration in Singapore under Singapore law. The contact address for questions and notices is contact@goodshort.com. Store purchases are still handled by Apple or Google, which is where refunds and cancellations happen.

Can I watch GoodShort on a computer?

Yes. GoodShort's website plays series in the browser, with its own coin store and a Manage Subscription page. Its top-up banner claims extra value compared with the app, which is the company's statement and not something we tested. If you buy on the website, cancel on the website. A plan bought there won't show up in your iPhone or Google Play subscriptions.

Is GoodShort OK for teenagers?

The US App Store rates it 13+, and the user agreement sets a minimum age of 12, or older where local law requires it. Content leans toward romance and revenge. The bigger concern for parents is spending: turn on Ask to Buy or block in-app purchases in Screen Time on iPhone, or require purchase verification and approvals on Android, before the first launch.
